Where it all began
Elise Gill was born in Fairfax, Virginia in 1995. She grew up in Manassas, Virginia, during which she gained experience in a variety of traditional art media, such as painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development during her time at Virginia Tech between 2013 and 2017. During this time, she dedicated her time to studying attachment theory, human development throughout the lifespan, and how to utilize various art media to showcase personal experience, provoke social commentary, and illicit emotional responses. She combined her love of art media and psychology to create a unique learning experience for those she taught whilst in her various art instructor and studio assistant positions.
Elise attended Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM from 2018-2021 to complete her Masters in Art Therapy/Counseling as well as receive a Certificate in Human Sexuality. During this time, she gained experience working therapeutically with children, teens, and adults in both in-patient and out-patient facilities.
Now, Elise works as the ArtStreet Program Coordinator at Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless in Albuquerque, NM. She plans collaborative workshops and exhibitions with other local agencies and artists while also maintaining a small caseload of individual and group art therapy clients.
